I am a highly subsceptible person, and I know it. Given enough arguments, enough convincing arguments, that is, I do not have any problems in seeing both sides of the coin. Seriously. And no, this is not good. This means I am no good in a debate, because I end up contradicting myself loads of times if the other person makes enough points ( again, enough convincing<\/i> points ) that make sense to my mind. And often, I would turn into this irritating critter that argues just for the sake of finding out how much the other person’s limits can be stretched. I babble. I rave. I think 2fargon<\/a> knows about this more than any other.<\/p>\n

Right.<\/p>\n

Needless to say, this whole argument-counter-argument-convinced?-no-not-yet matter came up because of something. <\/p>\n

I got this mail from Rishi. A Forward. Technically I don’t even read Forwards, but OK, he knows that too, and he knows that sending forwards that say “send this to twenty people or a fly will land in your soup”-kind of mails don’t exactly make sense, especially when both of us are in adjacent cubicles. No, he sent me this mail that says something about The Matrix Reloaded.<\/p>\n

*Insert collective groan here.*<\/p>\n

Right,
\n“Nothing in the movies is coincidental. The keymaker explains that they
\nhave exactly 314 seconds to do what they have to do; there has got to be
\nsome meaty explanation as to where 314 comes from.
\nMatrix Essays links to Killing the Buddha which has an article entitled
\nGnosis Reloaded, which offers this interesting tidbit: The crew at one point
\nis given 314 seconds to complete a task, which could have several
\ninterpretations: In gematria, the study of numbers used by the Gnostics but
\nmost often by the Jewish mystics, 314 is the numerical equivalent of the
\nname of God (Shaddai). Another possibility is that it refers to a passage in
\nthe book of Revelations in which the beginning and end of creation are
\ndescribed.<\/p>\n

certainly interesting… I also find it somewhat interesting that 314
\nseconds is exactly 5:14, and the movie first publicly screened on 5\/14\/03.
\nYes, the premier was 5\/15, but around here (In NY), it was available in most
\ntheaters on the night of the 14th. Probably insignificant, but interesting
\nnonetheless. :D<\/p>\n

The numerology slant draws some interesting comparisons to another one of my
\nfavorite movies, Pi. Actually, there are a whole lot of visual, thematic,
\ncinematic, and theological parallels between Pi and the Matrix movies; One
\nday (hopefully soon), when I have tons of time on my hands, I’ll devote a
\ncouple posts to comparing and contrasting the two, maybe with some screen
\nshots. ”<\/p>\n

“There’s more. Although i am ashamed to say that i did not notice
\nthis….there are biblical allusions (verses) for each license plate of hero

\ngiven you.<\/p>\n

Trinity and Morephus’ Cadillac on the freeway: DA203. Daniel 2:03 – I have
\nhad a dream that troubles me and I want to know what it means. (NEB)<\/p>\n

Agent Smith’s Audi at the beginning: IS5416.
\nIsaiah 54:16 – Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in
\nthe fire, and that bringeth forth an instrument for his work; and I have
\ncreated the waster to destroy.”<\/p>\n

“Persephone is a character from Greek mythology, the daughter of Zeus and
\nDemeter, who was abducted by Hades and taken to the Underworld. Her mother
\nwas so distraught at losing her daughter, that she punished mankind with
\ncold winds and dark winter. She threatened to destroy the Earth if her
\ndaughter was not returned. Eventually, they came to a compromise (there’s
\nanother character involved here who I can’t recall), so that Persephone
\ncould spend half the year with her mother, and half with Hades in the
\nUnderworld. While she is in the Underworld, Demeter inflicts cold and
\ndarkness on the earth, and when Persephone returns, sunshine and warmth
\nreturn to the earth. Thus the ancient Greeks explain the seasons.”<\/p>\n

Zion is a program, just like the Matrix. How is Neo able to figure out
\nthat he is able to stop the sentinels in Zion near the end of the film? The
\nspoon given to him earlier. It had obviously been bent loads, but how
\noutside the
\nMatrix? This gave Neo the inspiration and the understanding that Zion is
\nstill
\na matrix.<\/p>\n

The One explained<\/p>\n

“The One” is a program, but has to be “attached” to someone in the
\nMatrix. So Mr. Anderson got it in the 6th version of the Matrix. Then “The
\nOne”
\nprogram’s purpose is to allow Zion to be destroyed then to rebuild it. The
\nreason
\nfor this is because of anomalies – the 1% of humans that don’t accept the
\nMatrix.
\nThese are all brought out of the Matrix program and into the Zion program by
\nthe “Morpheus” program and other similar “ship captain” programs. Then once
\nall the anomalies are out of the Matrix (and in Zion), that is the time for
\nZion to be destroyed, thus killing all the anomalies off. The Matrix is then
\nupgraded, thus creating the next version of the Matrix, but Zion must be
\nrebuilt so
\nthat the next lot of anomalies can be brought out again so that they can be
\ndestroyed.
\nThis is the feedback-loop, and is the reason to retain a handful of
\npeople
\nso
\nthat Zion can be rebuilt. So this is why Neo said the prophecy was a
\nlie –
\nthe
\nOne’s purpose was not to end the war as the prophecy stated.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, “The One” program must be re-used each time, or copied,
\nso it
\ncan
\nbe “attached” to a new anomaly inside the Matrix. So what happens to
\nthe old
\n“The One” program? It faces deletion, and as the Oracle explained, it
\ngoes
\ninto
\nexile instead, just like the French bloke (the Merovingian) did. He was
\nthe
\nfirst One (probably from the second version of the Matrix), and once he
\nfulfilled his duty, he became an exile program and “abdicated” his
\n“Oneness”
\nby
\nchoosing Persephone and power. This is evident in the bogs when
\nPersephone
\nasks
\nNeo to kiss her. She says she wants him to kiss her so she can feel
\nwhat it
\nis
\nlike again to be kissed by something close to human, just like the
\nMerovingian
\nused to be. Then she says to Trinity that she envies her, but that
\nthese
\nthings
\nare not meant to last. So the Merovingian used to be just like Neo – a
\nOne –
\nthus proving further the feedback-loop explained earlier.<\/p>\n

The correct door in the Architect’s room<\/p>\n

Now there are two possibilities here:<\/p>\n

1. All the previous One’s chose the right door allowing a
\n“temporary
\ndissemination” of their code into the Matrix (i.e., the code they
\n“carry”
\nthus
\nindicating Neo is indeed human), then he must select (unplug) 23 people
\nfrom
\nthe
\nMatrix to rebuild Zion. This takes away the possibility that stories
\nfrom
\nprevious rebuilds of Zion will be carried through. But Morpheus
\nindicated in
\nthe
\nfirst Matrix that this is the case anyway. He said, “there was a man
\nborn
\ninside, able to change things, it was he who freed the first of us,” –
\nbasically
\nthe One previous to Neo. And this proves that the previous One chose
\nthe
\nright
\ndoor also. Neo’s purpose is also to choose the right door, but he does
\nnot
\nbecause he faces deletion afterwards and has the choice of going into
\nexile
\n–
\nprograms choosing to go into exile is the one thing that can’t be
\naccounted
\nfor
\nin program parameters. Thus, he chooses the left door instead this
\ntime. How
\nwas
\nNeo able to choose the other door? Because of his extreme willpower? –
\nEven
\nthe
\nArchitect indicated that he’d noticed this – “Interesting. That was
\nquicker
\nthan
\nthe others.” Or more likely, because the Oracle upgraded his coding
\nwith the
\ncandy on the park bench. The candy\/cookie was a method to change the
\nOne’s
\nprogram. She said he has made a believer out of her – this is quite
\nhuman-like
\nand perhaps the previous One’s didn’t accept the upgrade candy, now she
\nhas
\nhope… hope that Neo will finally choose the other door.<\/p>\n

2. All the previous One’s chose the left door, saving Trinity and
\nletting
\nZion fall. So this time is no different. But the Architect does say,
\n“You
\nare
\nhere because Zion is about to be destroyed. Its every living inhabitant
\nterminated, its entire existence eradicated,” and also, “this will be
\nthe
\nsixth
\ntime we have destroyed it, and we have become exceedingly efficient at
\nit,”
\n–
\nassuming the Architect isn’t lying, then they have already destroyed
\nZion
\n(i.e.,
\nZion has fallen) five times – i.e., the result of going through the
\nleft
\ndoor.<\/p>\n

Morpheus and Trinity are programs. Morpheus’s purpose was to find the
\nOne
\nand
\ndeliver him to the Architect. Trinity’s purpose is to control the One
\nby
\ngetting
\nin love with him. Trinity is supposed to be the mother of the new One
\nevery
\ntime
\nthe Matrix is Reloaded. That’s why the sex scene was so important and
\nwhy
\nshe
\nwas named Trinity.<\/p>\n

The Architect says, “she is going to die, and there is nothing that you
\ncan
\ndo
\nto stop it.” He was correct though because she did die just like Neo
\ndid in
\nthe
\nfirst Matrix (Oracle said he or Morpheus would, and she didn’t lie, but
\nhe
\ncame
\nback to life). Trinity dies, but comes back to life (we are using
\nmedical
\ndefinition of death in all this of course!).<\/p>\n

The Architect has already laid down an ultimatum for Neo choosing the
\nleft
\ndoor:<\/p>\n

The Architect – “Failure to comply with this process will result in a
\ncataclysmic system crash killing everyone connected to the matrix,
\nwhich
\ncoupled
\nwith the extermination of Zion will ultimately result in the extinction
\nof
\nthe
\nentire human race.”<\/p>\n

Neo – “You won’t let it happen, you can’t. You need human beings to
\nsurvive.”<\/p>\n

The Architect – “There are levels of survival we are prepared to
\naccept.
\nHowever, the relevant issue is whether or not you are ready to accept
\nthe
\nresponsibility for the death of every human being in this world.”<\/p>\n

Looking at this further, the Architect does say “coupled” with the
\nextermination
\nof Zion will the human race be exterminated. So he says everyone
\nconnected
\nto
\nthe Matrix will die, but if Zion is not exterminated, the human race
\nwill
\nnot
\nnecessarily die. Also, there is likely to be a time-window between not
\ngoing
\nthrough the right door, and the cataclysmic crash, thus allowing Neo to
\nunplug
\nas many as possible from the Matrix, then those people won’t die. This
\nwill
\nbe
\nthe start of the next Zion. As for the Matrix, a cataclysmic crash
\ndoesn’t
\nmean
\nthe end of the Matrix – just needs rebooting or reloading!<\/p>\n

Agent Smith explained<\/p>\n

Agent Smith is the only “human” in this world. He’s the one spreading
\nhimself
\nlike a virus replicating himself over and over until the Matrix will
\nfinally
\nget
\noverloaded and fail. Smith is the one who wants to get out of the
\nMatrix for
\ngood. He said so in the first Matrix, “I must get out of here, I must
\nget
\nfree!
\nAnd in this mind, is the key,” squeezing Morpheus’s temples, “my key!
\nOnce
\nZion
\nis destroyed, there is no need for me to be here!”<\/p>\n

Smith knows that by killing Neo he can escape the Matrix because Neo is
\nthe
\nkey
\nto resetting the Matrix, or to shut it off. It was originally killing
\nNeo
\n(in
\nthe first Matrix) that allowed Smith to become powerful (cloning
\nability) –
\nso
\nkilling Neo again will allow him to gain Neo’s powers completely, and
\nthus
\ngain
\nthe power to shut down the Matrix.<\/p>\n

So where the hell did Smith come from if he wants to destroy the
\nMatrix?
\nHe’s
\nobviously not meant to be there – he’s a computer virus as he has every
\ncharacteristic of a virus – he multiplies and spreads and infects (and
\nemulates)
\nother programs like one. He is exactly as he described humans at the
\nend of
\nthe
\nfirst Matrix – “You move to an area and you multiply and multiply until
\nevery
\nnatural resource is consumed and the only way you can survive is to
\nspread
\nto
\nanother area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the
\nsame
\npattern. Do you know what it is? A virus.”<\/p>\n

But who put him there? This will only be revealed in Revolutions
\n(Revelations?)
\nI guess – but I’m betting on humans in the real real world, i.e.,
\noutside of
\nZion and the Matrix. They’re at war with the machines and trying to
\ndestroy
\nthem
\nby infecting them with this virus – Agent Smith. So the irony with this
\ntheory
\nis that Agent Smith represents the human race!! Neo represents the
\nmachines!
\nAgent Smith says to Neo just after he’s seen the Oracle that he became
\nfree
\nwhen
\nNeo destroyed him in the first Matrix (remember when Neo entered his
\nbody
\nand
\nexploded him from inside out) – as a virus, Smith has the ability to
\n“inherit”
\nother programs’ abilities and thus inherited some of Neo’s.<\/p>\n

The anomaly explained<\/p>\n

The anomaly is all the humans that do not accept the Matrix. The
\nArchitect
\nsays
\n“Your life is the sum of a remainder of an unbalanced equation inherent
\nto
\nthe
\nprogramming of the matrix. You are the eventuality of an anomaly, which
\ndespite
\nmy sincerest efforts I have been unable to eliminate from what is
\notherwise
\na
\nharmony of mathematical precision. While it remains a burden to
\nsedulously
\navoid
\nit, it is not unexpected, and thus not beyond a measure of control.”
\nThis
\nincludes Neo, but Neo’s Matrix avatar is attached with the One program
\nso
\nthat
\nhe can follow his purpose as explained earlier under “The One explained
\n“. However, he is also supposed to
\nprotect
\nhimself and destroy anything that gets in his way – i.e., Agent Smith –
\nso
\nthat
\nhe may fulfil his purpose.<\/p>\n

Further proving Neo – and other non-accepters of the Matrix – are the
\nanomaly,
\nthe Architect says, “Your life is the sum of a remainder of an
\nunbalanced
\nequation inherent to the programming of the matrix.” The clue here is
\nNeo’s
\nprogram name – “The One”. Take one-third for example. 1 over 3 is
\n0.33333
\nrecurring. A computer cannot deal with recurring numbers, so must
\naccept a
\nlimit, let’s say 0.33333 for argument’s sake. Multiply by 3, you get
\n0.99999
\n–
\nnever 1.00000, where has the “remainder” 0.00001 (One) gone? This is
\nthe
\nlimitation of computers, this is the mathematical imprecision inherent
\nin
\nprogramming (of the Matrix) and the eventuality of the One anomaly
\nunable to
\nbe
\neliminated.<\/p>\n

What is the equation then?<\/p>\n

Not sure, but it definitely involves pi. The Keymaker refers to the
\nwindow
\nof
\ntime to open the door to the mainframe as 314 seconds. 3.14 is pi to
\nthree
\nsig.
\nfigs., or the number of radians in half a circle. Half a circle is like
\nthe
\ncross-section of a womb, similar to the alcove of Neo and Trinity’s
\nlove
\nscene –
\nconceiving the next One? “NEO”, incidently, is an anagram of “ONE”.
\nTrinity
\nand
\nNeo – one on one; a choice – one or one. Leads us to 101. “101” is
\nmentioned
\nnumerous times in Matrix 1 and Reloaded. Neo’s room at the beginning,
\nMerovingian is on the 101st floor, the 101 freeway of the car chase in
\nReloaded,
\nthen when Trinity is hacking into the power plant system, she resets
\nthe
\npassword to Z10N0101. Freaky. Indicates that she is a program because
\nthat’s
\nnot
\nsome random password she’s put in. 101 is binary for 5, which in
\nzero-based
\nbinary counting: 000 is 1, 001, is 2, 010 is 3, 011 is 4, 100 is 5, 101
\nis 6
\n–
\nAnd this is the 6th version of the Matrix! Then there’s 303. 303 is the
\nroom
\nNeo
\ngot shot in Matrix 1, the Oracle lives in room 303, it’s also the hotel
\nroom
\nnumber Trinity is in in Matrix 1 and it’s seen at the end when Neo
\nfights
\nthe
\nAgents and Smith and begins to literally see the code that makes up the
\nMatrix.
\n101 x 3 = 303, a trilogy, 3 + 0 + 3 = 6 = the 6th Matrix. Trinity means
\n3.<\/p>\n

Who is the “mother” that the Architect refers to?<\/p>\n

The Architect says, “Please,” in an almost disapproving sense when Neo
\nsuggests
\nthe Oracle, but does not reveal who it really is or even directly that
\nNeo
\nis
\nwrong. The architect was the one who created the Matrix; the co-creator
\nis
\nneither Persephone nor the Oracle. Both of them are only programs that
\nhave
\na
\npurpose in the matrix, just like the rest. The Architect is in charge
\nof the
\nMatrix world and the co-creator is in charge of Zion. She has almost
\nthe
\nsame
\nage as the Architect. Therefore, that woman is the Head Counsellor, the
\nonly
\nwoman of importance that lives in Zion and the one who asked for the
\ntwo
\ncaptains to volunteer at the council meeting. She’s the one who knew
\nall
\nalong
\nabout the Matrix. She was the one who told Zion’s Defence Minister to
\ncool
\noff
\nand to let Morpheus do his work so things could go as planned.<\/p>\n

Or alternatively, it could indeed be the Oracle. She is the only
\nprogram
\nthat
\ntruly wants humans to have a free choice… at the same time, she sees
\nthe
\nfuture, because she knows the program code – she is like God – which is
\nwhy
\nSeraph protects her – see “Who is Seraph?
\n”
\nbelow.<\/p>\n

What’s so special about Neo’s avatar?<\/p>\n

Neo is a skilled hacker, and his avatar in the Matrix is based on the
\nperson
\nthat founded the AI of the original machines that eventually took over
\nthe
\nworld… How? Take a look at the disc he gave to the bloke at the door
\nat
\nthe
\nbeginning of Matrix 1. It said “DISC AI” on it. The hollowed book Neo
\ntakes
\nthe
\ndisc out of is “Simulacra and Simulation” – a collection of essays by
\nthe
\nFrench
\npostmodernist philosopher Jean Baudrillard. He opens it to the section
\n“on
\nNihilism” (meaning nothing is truly known, etc.). “Baudrillard’s
\nconcept of
\nsimulation is the creation of the real through conceptual or
\n‘mythological’
\nmodels which have no connection or origin in reality. The model becomes
\nthe
\ndeterminant of our perception of reality–the real.” And Morpheus says,
\n“Welcome
\nto the desert of the real,” in Matrix 1. I’d say this book describes
\nThe
\nMatrix
\nto a tee. So this disc contains the key to the AI, and thus how to
\ndestroy
\nthe
\nmachines, so I think they’ll use this info in Revolutions to ultimately
\ndestroy
\nthe machines, which means he’ll have to go back to the nightclub and
\nfind
\nthe
\nguy he gave it to.<\/p>\n

Who is Seraph?<\/p>\n

The reason Seraph (the chink guy Neo meets before meeting the Oracle)
\nhad
\ngolden
\ncode and was so spectacular is that he came from the first incarnation
\nof
\nthe
\nmatrix, which was heaven. “Seraph” is singular for the plural
\n“seraphim”.
\nThe
\nseraphim are the highest choir of angels and included amongst others:
\nLucifer,
\nGabriele, Raziel and Malaciah, and they sit on the 8th level of Heaven
\njust
\none
\nbelow God. So Seraph will obviously have a big part in Revolutions, but
\nwhose
\nside will he be on – the machines or the humans?? That is the question.<\/p>\n

The Twins<\/p>\n

They are exiled programs that emulate the human myth of ghosts as the
\nOracle
\nexplained. They are programs behaving badly. Persephone killed one of
\nthe
\nMerovingian’s bodyguards with a silver bullet because he was emulating
\na
\nwerewolf. So if the Twins could phase into ghost form, why didn’t he
\nwhen
\nhis
\narm was trapped in the door of the garage? Was it because he was
\nwounded or
\nbecause he can’t phase when his arm is trapped? No of course not. The
\ndoors
\nof
\nthat building, when shut, always led somewhere else (usually in the
\nmountains)
\nwhen opened again without the Keymaker’s key. So if it were slammed
\nshut due
\nto
\nthe Twin phasing into ghost form, the Twin’s arm would’ve ended up god
\nknows
\nwhere, but certainly not attached to the Twin’s body.<\/p>\n

On an unrelated note, just discovered that the guy who sits next to me in my cubicle has a cd, that contains some downloads that he made when he was in the USA ( he came back a month ago ) Seems he went to the i2fs site, and got those songs listed there from KaZaa. That is, the original versions of songs that have inspired Hindi film songs. Some of the goodies I wanted – Al di Meola and Steve Vai – Race With the Devil on Turkish Highway<\/i>, which has the same sample as Raaga Dance<\/i> from Taal<\/b>. Linear’s Sending all My Love<\/i>, which is a note-to-note original of Neend Churayi Meri<\/i>, from Ishq<\/b>. Vangelis’ Voices<\/i>, better known to us as Dil Ne Dil Ko Pukaara<\/i>. <\/p>\n

This last track, it seems, got him plenty interested in Vangelis, and he ended up downloading 22 Vangelis tracks. Cool! Am taking the cd home tonight, of course.
