Ok, so long time no journal….

fact is, i’ve been busy. busy working, busy being happy, busy being lazy….:-)

December went by beautifully, for obvious reasons (Thanks, cash, navs, udda, for making part of my dreams come true!!! )

Have a lot of stuff to jot down, dunno where to start and what to say.

Quzzing after 8 months, and that too with a vengeance….33-man and me, i think we really make a good team. Seriously. I used to think that after the Boss-Gang would pass on, I would be pretty much without a propah anchor…but hey, 33 and me, we JAM on stage….weird, really! I guess with Udda around, the three of us would confuse the hell out of each other….:-) and with cash, :-), we would choke each other on stage….

A fond memory: IITM, Jan 2k1: MnM
qm:”What was the initial name of The Dark side of The Moon album?”
c: da, i think it is Eclipse, but shit, i ain’t sure.
s: So what do we do? Say Eclipse?
c: NO NO!!! NO !
s: ok, ( to quizmaster ) the answer is Eclipse.
qm: right!!!
c, s, u: :-D

Basically, this is what happens when we go to a quiz. Make the most outrageous guesses and get away with it!!!!

Anyway, went to Blore for a 2 day rendezvous at RVCE, and with Udda after a long gap. A train crashed on Saturday, that was 19th – and some moron has to call up my house and ask whether i am still alive or not. Hadn’t told my parents about the trip so they tried to call, and ma went berserk!!!!!
note : the word “berserk” comes from Norse for “bear-shirt” after a hero who traded his armour for a cloak made of bearskin…

Why do they have to release THREE good movies on the same Friday????

Saathiya: decent. Kaante: good.
Die Another Day: moronic.

vasu and me hung around together yesterday. Saw Kaante together, in fact.

Peace!

Zip a de doo dah!

(This is a cut n paste job from a mail I just wrote to psasi)

i bought a couple of good books on saturday…..not watching the Parikrama concert DID help out after all…

latest acquisitions:
–Zadie Smith’s “White Teeth”. There is a movie being made on the book, it’s supposed to be hilarious, and it stars Om Puri….i bought the hardcover.

–Neil Gaiman’s “Neverwhere”. This was one book i had been DESPERATELY looking for….my Gaiman collection is half complete now….the Gaiman novel collection, i mean. btw, i finished reading it in one go yesterday….long time since a book did that to me….

–Ron Kovic’s “Born On The Fourth Of July” , supposed to be a VERY powerful book!!! the first few pages are awesome!!!

–An interesting one….i saw a FAT book with a nice looking female on the cover and from a distance, the name looked like “Samurai”…went closer and looked to find “Samraj”….at the back, the reviewer had said, “A must for fans of Tolkienesque fantasy”…the book was, believe it or not, a historical retelling of the Mahabharata, from the Point of View of Draupadi and Yudhishtira, who have to “lead a band of rag tag rebellers against the army of the mighty Kuru empire. ”
Entertaining to say the least!!! And the author is an American female. :-D

Yeah, yesterday was another major milestone….installed and played my first RPG called “Baldur’s Gate II: Shadows of Amn”, a LONG demo version, the full game being a four-cd epic available at MR Book stall…methinks i will buy it before the month is through….

Dunno why but I feel great right now. The whole night, I dreamt of doing this, getting 10 points, losing out 5 points because I could not cast a particular spell, choosing between maces and katanas.

Movies seen: “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” Now I know where those one-liner movies come from (Editorial note: “One-liner movies” refer to alomost ALL the movies of today, where the protagonists seem to have unfunny punchlines spouting all over the place, can’t anyone have a normal dialogue at all?? ) But all in all, definitely a neat one.

American Desi: yet another cauldron bubbling over with anti-Indian khichdi….and of course they end up making it oh-So-hollywoodish. The acapella backing to Aap Jaisa Koi and Mere Sapnon Ke Rani was nice. The best line in the movie has got to be this: The Main Guy is forced to sit through a viewing of RK’s “Sangam” and he reaches the limits of his patience…”Jesus! I think I have seen PORNO movies with better storylines than this! ”
ha ha ha!

Some part of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon on AXN. Dubbed of course. And more of a tribute to cheesy kung pow movies than anything else. For the nth time, I wonder why exactly somebody in a sword fight would keep screaming the different styles everytime “Dancing Sparrow”, “MOnkey eat dog”, “Dog bite tail”….HORRIBLE!!!

Like I said alredy, I feel GOOD right now.

gaiman! gaiman! GAIMAN!

Order and method, my dear Watson.

I plan to do SO many things after returning home. This happens everyday in the office…and of course, when I do get home, I am usually too tired to do anything much, maybe I catch up on my reading ( ha ha ha, can’t finish a goddamn book in 3 days, fat lot of good my reading is doing to me. ) or just sit in front of the computer and keep pressing Windows-E and Alt-f4 alternately.
Tried doing something different yesterday – actually tried playing a strategy game “Baldur’s Gate” – the f*cking thing stopped dead after 15 minutes, just when I was about to kill one of the bastards. rishi says it was the RAM, I (and the error message) say it was a character mismatch at line 49503.
Some more pages of Carl Hiassen, the guy is good, I think I should go and buy the second book. But all that buy, buy, buy is starting to get on my nerves. I never even started “The Last Temptation of Christ” yet. Hmmm, maybe if I would have actually spent 695 bucks instead of the lowly 20….
The IIIT business is all over, hurray! ( does this word still get used? Don’t remember “hurray” being used recently…) The final grading goes out today ( It already has, in fact.
Things to do:
Two more chapters of the novel. ( Mine, not Hiassen’s)
The keyboard stand.
Blank cds for you-know-who and you-know-what.
Reworking “Xuna Na”.

I wonder if I would do half of all this….:-)
SRS must be going crazy about the whole Trivium business….poor chap, haven’t even told him the exact dates yet.
I just realised that nobody reading this would really understand ALL of it. Part of it, but not all.

Hello World!

Cliched lines that come to mind:
“Welcome to the new World”
“It-it’s aLIVE!!!!”
“Where do I begin?”
“Let’s start at the very be-gi-nning…a very good place to start.”

Whatever.
Don’t feel like writing too much now. I gotta buy some blank cds. Gotta buy a chip for my keyboard. Gotta buy , buy, buy.
God, i am so Fookin’ materialistic.
Mom’s waiting back at home. Tons of stuff to be done.
WIth any luck, today was the end of the IIIT business for me. Hello, Saturday morning!
Jeez, I don’t believe this! People are gonna be reading this sh*t!
Whatever.
